Many argue that by using the Ika Shime and killing it quickly, squids are more delicious, as they do not have time to secrete substances that alter their taste and fill the boat with ink. The Yamashita Ika Shime consists of a plastic handle and a 12 cm metal blade. The shape of the blade is such that by placing it between the eyes, it can deliver a critical blow to the squid and kill it immediately.
